“I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. You have patiently suffered for me without quitting. “But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!”
Revelation 2:2-4 NLT

While studying Revelation and last day events, I see our greatest fear should not be secret societies and conspiracy theories. Our greatest fear should be falling out of love with Jesus.

Even in Patmos he [John] made friends and converts. –Acts of the Apostles, Page 573

It’s good to know, no matter where we end up, God will always make sure we have friends we can share Jesus with.

Humility of John The Revelator

I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. Revelation 1:9 NLT

John walked with Jesus, and was called the disciple who Jesus loved. John was one of three disciples privileged to be on the mount of transfiguration. He also was one of two disciples who asked to be seated next to Jesus in His kingdom. Now, here in this text, John does not set himself apart from us as though he was in some special class. He writes to you and me calling himself our brother and partner.

In Jesus’ Hands

This is the meaning of the mystery of the seven stars you saw in my right hand and the seven gold lampstands: The seven stars are the angels [messengers] of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. Revelation 1:20 NLT

Before Jesus tells us about all of the calamity, trials, persecutions and crisis coming to the world, He first assures His messengers who share the gospel of grace and truth, that they will always be held safely in his hand.

Frank and Janea’s Baptism Pictures and Stories

ASI Baptisms 004

In 2008 the Tampa First SDA Church invited ASI to hold evangelism meetings at our church. Wayne (far right) an ASI Bible worker met Larry and Janice going door to door, and they were soon baptized into our church family.

A few years later Aaliyah, Larry and Janice’s granddaughter came to live with them, and  they shared Jesus with her, and I was soon invited to have baptism studies with her.

Janea Certificate

But the story does not end there. Janea, another granddaughter of Larry and Janice has recently moved to Tampa with her family. Janea told me she wanted to be baptized and have a fresh new start, living for Jesus.

Janea Baptism

Today Janea received her brand new start with Jesus. While her grandparents shared Jesus with her, Janea now will be sharing Jesus with her children and all of her friends and neighbors. I am looking forward to the next chapter, as I am sure this is till not the end!

Frank Certificate

Pastor Brad called me during the holidays last year to tell me about Frank, a man who had been doing Amazing Facts Bible Studies through the mail, and now wanted to be baptized. While studying with Frank, I learned that he also enjoyed watching Doug Bachelor. Frank had never been baptized before or joined a church, and he told me he was very excited to be baptized for the first time, and join the Tampa First Seventh-day Adventist Church, a Bible believing, Commandment keeping church.

Brad Bapstims Vowa

Before the baptism Pastor Brad went over the baptism vows and welcomed Frank and Janea into church membership.

Frank Baptism

Frank is currently attending my New Believer’s Sabbath School class, but wants to join the spiritual gifts class soon, so he can find ways he can serve his Savior in his new church family. Frank, like Janea are already making many new friends at Tampa First.

Christmas in Light of the Cross, Day 19 (Christmas Trees at Church)

I am writing today from the beautiful Tampa Bay area.

I am writing today from the beautiful Tampa Bay area.

When I was 17, I was attending Oklahoma Adventist Academy, a very conservative, self supporting school. While there, during my own Bible study time I ran across Jeremiah 10, which seemed to me, it was talking about how pagan Christmas trees are.  I asked my English teacher, Mrs. Stienkrause about it. Even though she and the school were very conservative, and even strict, she explained to me that Jeremiah 10 was not talking about Christmas trees, and that Jeremiah was talking about something much more sinister than simply placing a tree inside a house for decoration. After all, it would stand to reason that if we should not have a tree in our house or church for decoration, then we should have no plants at all! This simply is not the case.

You can click here and read and listen to Doug Bachelor, a very conservative Adventist evangelist with Amazing Facts explain the truth about Jeremiah 10 and what it is really talking about.

Below is a quote from Ellen White, on how we can use the Christmas tree to promote the spirit of giving, which is the Spirit of Jesus.

We are now nearing the close of another year, and shall we not make these festal days opportunities in which to bring to God our offerings? I cannot say sacrifices, for we shall only be rendering to God that which is his already, and which he has only intrusted to us till he shall call for it. God would be well pleased if on Christmas, each church would have a Christmas tree on which shall be hung offerings, great and small, for these houses of worship. Letters of inquiry have come to us asking, Shall we have a Christmas tree? will it not be like the world? We answer, You can make it like the world if you have a disposition to do so, or you can make it as unlike the world as possible. There is no particular sin in selecting a fragrant evergreen, and placing it in our churches; but the sin lies in the motive which prompts to action, and the use which is made of the gifts placed upon the tree.  -Ellen White, Review and Herald,  December 11, 1879 par. 15
